I'm guessing the Smith Brothers, Tom and Kevin Smith, perform(ed) together in nightclubs, as this is a self-produced album of covers of popular songs done in the style of the originals, plus look at the photo on the cover.
"We've played many different kinds of music," reads the back cover, and the album has covers of pop, country, and easy listening hits, a Gershwin medley, and a "Hora medley." So perhaps they played weddings as well. The sample track shows them at their best.

ReplyDeleteI too like to collect vinyl that has never been digitized, primarily stuff by my favorite artists, but if it's interesting enough, I'll snag anything. The most special to me are the ones I bought as they came out, just because I wanted to hear the music, and NOT because they were rare (the second two Jim Carroll Band albums, Peter Gabriel 12-inch singles).
Thanks for the comment. I haven't quit, but the Not On CD process has become outmoded. The h/k home audio CD burner generates CDs, and computers with CD drives aren't so common anymore.
ReplyDeleteI'm constantly surprised by what music isn't available digitally. It seems to me that anyone who is interested in music really has to have a turntable.
