The Persuasions: We Still Ain't Got No Band (1973)

The Persuasions are an a capella group with more than two dozens records to their name. Their early albums are a mix of gospel, soul, and pop songs, but in the aughts, they began recording a series of tribute albums (The Beatles, Frank Zappa, U2, The Grateful Dead). Many of their albums are on CD, but this 1973 release is not.

I haven't heard a bad Persuasions record, so I pick them up whenever I find them. I bought this LP at Antone's in Austin, Texas for around $4. The cover is a bit worn, but the record is in great shape.

There is a copy on eBay (US site) right now for $4.99 plus shipping. It appears to be a nice copy.

HEY I HAVE YHE LP ...I GOING TO TRY TO GET IT COPYED ON CD ...THAT AN IDEAL UNTILL IT COMES ON CD MY LP HAS A LOT ON SCHACTHES AND SKPIS BUT IT ONE OF THE BEST LP' S IN THE WORLD OF MUSIC YOGI63

(Update: my digitization process was foiled by advancing technology; I mostly post work that others have digitized for YouTube. Older tracks should still be accessible per the following procedure) Click on any song title to go to a box.net page for that song. Our goal is to post only tracks that are not available on CD or as mp3s – songs that cannot be purchased anywhere. All LPs are cleaned with a VPI 16.5 record cleaning machine, then converted to CD using a harman/kardon home audio CD recorder, which uses an AKM 24-bit/96 kHz analog-to-digital converter. No digital or electronic effects are used. (Prior to November 12, 2012, all LPs were cleaned with a Spin Clean Record Washer.)

Phono cartridges: Grado ZF2/Paratrace; Digitrac 300se; Ortofon X1-MCP; Audio Technica AT-132EP & AT-122EP; Sonus SPM-4; Grado Blue; Grado Blue/Paratrace; Grado Signature Jr; FrankenShure M111HE/N94e.

Preamplifiers: Hagerman Cornet3; Pro-Ject Phono Box S; NAD PP 2i, Rotel RA-931 integrated amplifier.
