Dancing Doll – V-3053
I picked this up in an overpriced local record shop (e.g., Barry Manilow's Even Now, in okay shape, was $10). This record, miraculously, was $2. Thank God for philistines. It was still in the original shrink (!), which I removed to reveal the minty cover.
The Simmons Family remind me a bit of The Carter Family. The playing and singing is "authentic" and evocative of a time and place. A great record.
Update: I have finally digitized a track for Not On CD:
Flower in the WildwoodDigitrac 300se > Technics SL-7 > Hagerman Cornet 3 > harman kardon CDR-20
All I had to do was:
1. Unplug the output cables from my Hagerman phono stage and plug them into the hk CDR-20.
2. Find a CDRW (I located an old Xmas CD, unfinalized it, and used that).
3. Play the record on my SL-7 and burn it to the CDRW (a few years back, the CDR20 stopped letting me monitor the sound via the headphone jack, so now I have to eyeball the track on the turntable.)
4. Finalize the CDRW.
5. Unpack my old iMac, plug it in, plug in a mouse, put batteries in the bluetooth keyboard, and fire everything up.
6. Insert the CDRW in the drive, open iTunes, and create an mp3.
7. Copy the mp3 to a flash drive.
8. Repack the iMac and unbattery the keyboard.
9. Copy the mp3 to my Macbook, and upload it to box.com.
10. Unfinalize the CDRW, erase the track, refinalize the CDRW.
IT'S THAT EASY
